    How does it all come together? Take a remembered comment about Cancer at a Writing For Cancer meeting, add a rereading of the myth of Pandora, throw in a newletter from City of Hope, and you have a poem:
                         Pandora’s Box of Cancer
With cancer comes your own personal Pandora’s Box,
Full of pain, full of grief, and designed by Zeus just for you.

         We were trying to write poetry that joined areas of stress with words or images that nourish us, that help ease that stress.   Here are two such poems  from our Berlin group.        
                                  ALL I WANT
All I want is to find my purpose in life
It seems that I am just marking time
Each day is endless from sunrise to sunset
Until it is time to lay my head down
I say the child’s prayer before sleep,

Getting On with Your Life

Janet looks at her second bout of cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and her stem cell transplant as her second chance at life. It has been nine years and she still considers it a gift.
What one person might view as a blessing, someone else might see as a curse. What they both might agree on, though, are the words, “It is better to give than to receive.” The irony is, of course, you receive far more in return by giving.
